Asus Zoom X David Sandberg

  • February 22, 2016

They Said Video Content Creation. We Said Ninjas And T-Rexes.

It began one balmy evening in Hong Kong while I was rewatching David Sandberg’s masterpiece Kung Fury for the 101th time and annoying my colleagues with a passionate karaoke rendition of Hasselhoff’s True Survivor. I had barely finished exclaiming aloud how amazing it would be to work with David on a project together when a content brief magically appeared on my desk, accompanied by some haunting chimes (turns out that part was just a text alert on my mobile phone).

I picked up the brief and clearly intoxicated with an equal mix of Kung and Hoff fury .. I decided to write David an email that promised no fame or fortune, but a chance to do some cool stuff with ninjas, t-rexes and sharks. I made a prayer to the advertising gods with promises of sacrificial interns, pressed the Send Button and into the darkness shot the video concept scripts I’d written to whatever planet David was currently residing on (I believe it was called Sweden).

It felt like three days passed by, even though it was actually more like two and a half days, when suddenly, like a Zeus bolt of lightning, a reply from David arrived with an epic ding: ‘Hey Christian, sounds good. I’ve got a few ideas of my own as well, but let’s do it’. I read and reread the email seventeen times while angels wept (people still say it was actually me weeping) and these videos to launch the world’s thinnest x3 Optical Zoom Smartphone from Asus were no longer a fantasy like this retelling is, but a reality that everyone now gets to watch (and one I’m extremely proud to have been involved with).
